Phonom Penh

Having read the mixed reviews on trip advisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g293940-d456206-Reviews-L_Imprevu_Resort-Phnom_Penh.html#REVIEWS

I was wondering what we had booked into. John (VSO friend from 20 years back)

had come up trumps. No mold on the sheets, sand or grit in the pool. Jungle paths lead to our chalet, a convivial french host and fab french bread make it a very nice city hotel.

Our Christmas was spent with John, Thea (Tia) and Nichole. It was pleasant to catch up, and go into town for a bit. Angela and Thea managed a couple of huge cocktails, and yet still managed a conversation afterwards. I was quite impressed.

John’s house is huge, although he is quite modest about it. Put in the UK I would be quite overwhelmed. He compares it to the prince’s place across the way, so maybe in context it is not as grand, but then maybe Buckingham Palace is not quite as big as The Winter Palace. It is all relative.

Well we have had a very busy two weeks with Paul and Carroline. We will miss them lots but apparently they are off on another trip in 10 days for their 2 week skiing trip. It is alright for some – guess we’ll have to make do with another trip to a tropical island.

Last day with Uncle and Aunty, spent at the pool.
